Back to School Blues

Hey world, it’s Kelly!

First off – let’s get this out there – I am a little bit hesitant to write these blog posts.  I loooove my job here and really enjoy researching and writing for the site…but sometimes it’s hard to write about my regular life. But the boss asked, so here goes!

It’s early September – the city’s come back to life, humming with the buzz of students lugging backpacks filled with books, and hearts bursting with dreams. The air is thick with promise and fresh starts as I’m nestled in my favorite café corner, sipping on my black coffee, tapping keys and people-watching. The back-to-school hustle is on, and the city streets are painted with excitement and anticipation. And yet, as I watch this sea of possibility, I can’t help but feel like a ship anchored, my sails tattered with indecision and self-doubt.

Flashback to what feels like another lifetime – my journey toward a master’s degree, a path paved with pride and expectation, yet a path I boldly chose to diverge from. I can almost hear the “I told you so’s” from my family, their disappointment echoing like a haunting melody. But hey, I’ve always been a fan of the road less traveled!

Sharing my space is my roommate, a guy with an agenda as unpredictable as a leaf in the wind. As I strive for structure, he embodies chaos, a daily dance that tests my limits.

Every day feels like a tightrope walk between the world’s expectations and my own desires. Balancing the emotional weight of abandoned studies with the freedom of carving my own path as an online writer brings both exhilaration and exhaustion. But it’s worth it.

Let’s not forget, every cloud has a silver lining.

Here’s to embracing the blues, and transforming them into a spectrum of spectacular shades. Cheers to the adventure, to growth, to life. Let’s do this, September!

K.
